Your Questions, Answered
Final Thought: Pick the Week They’d Pick
The Question Worth Asking
It usually starts as a simple one. Where is my dog going to stay while I'm traveling?
There's a better question underneath it. A dog's whole sense of a day comes from what happens in it, so a week away is a week of chances for something good.
Which makes the useful question this: what does your dog get to do all week?
Weighing a Pet Sitter? Here's What a Stay With Us Adds
The honest difference isn't about who cares more about your dog. It's about what the day brings for them. A stay here is a day with other dogs in it, trips out to the yard several times a day, and a well-trained team attending to every moment of it.
That's companionship, physical exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization.
Then there's what you can stack onto the same booking. Lodge and Learn turns those same days into daily training. A deluxe bath before pickup means they come home clean. A week away that gives something back.
What a Day Here Includes
Day care here is a safe, supervised, and fun-filled day for all dogs. Our well-trained team attends to every moment of it, so your dog gets a great day of interaction, exercise, and rest.
Those three words are the shape of it. Interaction, exercise, and rest, rotating through the day rather than one long block of any of them.
Out to the yard several times a day: Every dog goes outside repeatedly through the day for fresh air and playtime.
Plenty of room to play, indoors and out: There are indoor and outdoor play areas in a clean, secure environment, so exercise happens in all kinds of weather.
Rest built into the day: Lodging suites are temperature-controlled, with comfortable Kuranda beds, sound machines at night, and plenty of fresh water.

Four Things Your Dog Gets Out of It
There are four reasons Good Dog Pet Ranch is good for your dog, and together they're the case for a stay here over any other arrangement.
Companionship: Dogs are social creatures who enjoy personal attention and positive interaction.
Physical exercise: Exercise and activity are important to a dog's overall health and wellness, and indoor and outdoor play areas allow plenty of it in all kinds of weather.
Mental stimulation: Doing new things stimulates a dog's mind and may help relieve anxiety, boredom, and undesirable behavior.
Socialization: Human contact and interaction with other dogs is good for a dog's temperament and confidence.
Company From Drop-Off to Pickup
Here's the thing that doesn't show up in any list of amenities: your dog has company.
Other dogs around, a team attending to the day, and people who know them.
A verified Google review put it better than we could. The family went to Alaska for a week and boarded their rescue, Popeye, for the first time. "I was sent updates every day of how he was doing, and he obviously had so much fun while we were away. I am very impressed and thankful for such a wonderful and caring staff."
Is Day Care Good for a Shy Dog?
Often, yes. Human contact and time with other dogs are good for a dog's temperament and confidence, and that shows up fastest in the dogs who start unsure.
Bobbi brought us Willow, a foster she took in who came to her scared of people and carrying real anxiety. In her words: "The staff have been super gentle and patient with her and have really helped her come out of her shell. We never miss a weekend, and Willow has gotten to meet so many new people and even made some doggie friends."
Anya has seen something similar with her dog, who she says has gotten less reactive since he started coming. Neither of those happened in a single visit. They happened over a lot of ordinary visits.
Room to Run, Indoors and Out
Every dog here goes out to the play yard several times a day, and there's room to play in a clean and secure environment both indoors and outdoors. Whatever the Texas weather may bring, there's somewhere for your dog to play.
A Safe, Supervised Day
Supervised is the word that matters most in all of this.
Our well-trained team attends to your dog's day rather than checking in on it.
Meals, Medication, and What to Bring
Bring your dog's food, their treats, and any medication they need. Keep the medication separate from the food.
You don't need to bring bedding, bowls, or toys. Those are here. If you'd rather not pack food at all, premium house food is available.
Medication is administered at no additional charge, with clear instructions gone over at drop-off. You can drop your dog off any time during business hours, and it helps if we know roughly when you're arriving. Standard checkout is 2:00 PM.

Report Cards, So You Can See Them
When your dog stays with us, you'll receive report cards with photos of your dog.
Kathleen put it simply after leaving two dogs with us for a weekend: "We loved the report cards so we could see our babies."
Seeing what your dog is doing while you’re away does something that a text saying everything's fine never quite manages.
When Your Plans Change at the Last Minute
Travel moves. Flights slip, meetings run long, or somebody decides to drive back a day early.
Anya's review speaks to this directly: "They have gone above and beyond to let me pick up my dog late and drop off early when necessary. The peace of mind knowing my boy is in good hands when I travel is worth its weight in gold."
We're open every day, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM, which is a wide enough window to absorb a changed plan. Call us, and we'll work it out.
Training, While They’re Already Here
It's a common misconception that a boarding stay and a training program have to be two separate bookings, months apart. At Good Dog Pet Ranch, they don't.
Lodge and Learn pairs an overnight stay with daily training, so you drop off a dog who pulls on the leash and pick up one who doesn't. Two, three, or four weeks depending on what you're after, and a follow-up lesson is included so it carries over at home.
Day School covers basic obedience in a Monday through Friday day program, minimum two weeks, with your dog sleeping at home. Private Lessons run an hour and can happen at the ranch or in your house. Jaycie has been training dogs here for more than three years, and a free initial training consultation is required before anything gets scheduled, which means you can ask what your dog needs without committing to anything.
The two-week program covers the foundation: sit, stay, place, heel, and basic manners. Longer programs add down, leash work, off-leash recall, and leave it. Behavior modification cases generally require at least four weeks, and we'll say so rather than book you into something shorter that won't get there.
Come Home to a Clean Dog
A deluxe bath here means all-natural shampoo, a towel dry, air dry in our drying room, ear cleaning, a brush out, a ranch bandana, and a tasty treat. Add-ons cover teeth brushing, nail trimming, coat brushing, and de-shedding. De-shedding is the one to ask about if you own a dog who leaves a second dog's worth of hair on the couch every week.
Bath services require an appointment and current vaccinations. Just mention it when you book the stay!
Two Dogs, Three Dogs, a Whole Household
Dogs from the same house can stay together. Exceptions are sometimes made depending
on their sizes and temperaments, and we'll talk that through with you. Tell us who's coming when you call, and we'll sort the arrangement.
Older Dogs and Dogs Who Need a Little Extra
We're committed to caring for older dogs and making them feel comfortable, including administering any medicines they need.
Kathleen's Weimaraner was eleven and had a history of health problems when she boarded him with us. If you've got a dog like that, you know the care that goes into choosing where they stay. Her review reads: "Our friends at Good Dog Pet Ranch took excellent care of them last weekend."
If your dog is older, on medication, slow to warm up, or managing something ongoing, tell us on the phone. We’re here to make you and your dog as comfortable as possible during their stay.
Never Boarded Before? Start Here
Plenty of our regulars had a first day once, and their people had questions before it.
If this is your first time, say so when you call. We'll happily talk you through the whole thing, and you're welcome to come look around first.
What Amarillo Families Say
We're at 4.9 stars across 142 Google reviews, and the ones worth reading are the specific ones.
A rescue on his first-ever stay who had so much fun his family said they'd be back. A foster who came out of her shell and made dog friends. A dog who's grown less reactive since he started coming. An eleven-year-old cared for by a team his owner ended up calling friends.
Four different dogs, and the same thing running through all four reviews. Read the rest on Google, then come see it yourself!
Day Care, If You’re Not Going Anywhere
Day Care runs Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Same play yards, same team, minus the overnight. If you work full time and like the idea of your dog spending the day playing, this is what it's for.
It's also a low-stakes way to see how your dog does here before a longer stay ever comes up.
If Day Care is going to be a regular thing, the memberships are worth asking about. The Drop In Club covers eight days a month and includes a complimentary deluxe bath, a round trip on the Good Dog Express, and a retail discount. The Premium Club covers unlimited weekday Day Care, unlimited baths, unlimited transportation, and discounted overnight rates, which quietly changes the math on a longer stay later in the year.
If getting across town is the hard part, the Good Dog Express runs weekday pickup and drop-off, 7:00 AM to 6:45 PM Monday through Friday. Ask about your address when you call.
Come See It Before You Decide
Stop by during business hours, and we'll be happy to show you around. Any day, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
A tour answers things a website can't, and if you're still weighing your options, it's the best way to settle it.
Bring your questions. We're at 160 S. Pullman Rd, just off I-40 and about three minutes from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport.

Yes. Lodge and Learn pairs an overnight stay with daily training over two, three, or four weeks and includes a follow-up lesson. Day School is a Monday through Friday day program with a two-week minimum and your dog home at night, and Private Lessons are one-hour sessions focused on a specific goal. A free initial training consultation is required before scheduling.
Can I add a bath before pickup?
Yes, by appointment. A deluxe bath includes all-natural shampoo, towel dry, air dry in our drying room, ear cleaning, a brush out, a ranch bandana, and a tasty treat. Teeth brushing, nail trimming, coat brushing, and de-shedding are available as add-ons. Current vaccinations are required.
